The spare key to my slk230 (2000) doesnt work on on remote, okay manually unlocking doors and starting the engine. I changed the batteries but still no luck. On checking the the batterries I found one with 0 voltage. So replaced it with another new one (checking the voltage 1st this time) Still no luck on the remote but found out the following day that ONE of the batteries again was as flat as a pancake.
Any suggestions or remedies would me much appreciated.
Many Thanks
Ian

You need to synchronise the key to the system if it hasn't been on the system after sometimes. Press 3 times and then turn to position II within 30 seconds. You find this in the owner handbook.

If it still doesn't repeat it again until it does as suggested by Merc dealer. Double check the batteries are at least 3V.

ok will have to get some more batteries. What I dont understand though is why it is drainning only one of the batteries flat over night. It would suggest that there is something short cutting or a faulty button contact possibly?

It is possible for the key to fail on the remote side, but still work on the DAS ignition

It quite common human error. I put back an old battery, when I not supposed to do that but I did trouble the Merc dealer. Don't use Enerzier. Use quality like Varta, Panasonic.

Your is MBRSS same as mine. If you dropped it, it duds, you may have to get a new one or ask the MB dealer to sort it out for you.

ok thanks for that, I am 100% sure new batteries went back in as i discarded the old ones 1st then checked new ones then inserted into fob immediately.
Not sure if fob has been dropped as I have inherited the problem as I have only had car 6 weeks. Still shouldnt moan if this is the only problem I have.

Take it to the Merc dealer, it won't cost you anything unless they asked you buying something.
