Spare key query

Afternoon all, the wife's CLK came with 2 keys but only one will remotely unlock the car and start it, whilst the spare has obviously been in water at some point as it was green and gunky inside when I was trying to find out why it didn't work.
The remote unlocking doesn't work, but the key still starts the car, so my question is; is it possible to buy a replacement key so I can remotely unlock the car and transfer the transponder over to be able to start the car, or is it a full key I need?
If I do buy an ebay special, will it be possible to recode to the central locking or are we talking MB coding ?

A second had key off eBay makes an interesting ornament but not much more than that sadly.

MrsLK recently washed one of ours and although I was able to dry it out the reprieve was short-lived.

You'll need a new key I'm afraid and that will need coding to the car so a visit to the dealers or an automotive locksmith.

Whoever you use make sure they know what they're doing as I used A N Other and instead of getting a working key he sat on our driveway for two hours, said he couldn't do it and took off like a scalded cat. Replacement Mercedes keys in Small Heath in Birmingham discovered he'd filled most of the available key tracks with rubbish during his attempt but fortunately managed to code up two new keys in under an hour.

I'd thoroughly recommend Matt and Mark at RMK.

As others a new key will need to be programmed, no transponder to swap across.
