Spare key/transponder

Cos I'm always losing my keys. I'm looking to get a spare key/transponder for my slk. Question is how much am I looking at total? And does the transponder have to be "keyed/tuned in"? Whats the best option? MB dealer or I've noticed advertisers in the back of autotrader?

Go to the dealer with Log book, passport, other proof of identity and about £40. Key will arrive next day if you tell them you need it urgently.
Do not buy anything from ebay etc, dealers will not program them
