Did I read somewhere that you can only get keys from a M B dealership?
Do you need to take proof of ownership or just turn up in the limo,I have a 1985 model that needs a spare key.

As far as I know, you need proof of ownership and the VIN number

I had some cut at my local Timpson shoe repair shop recently, very cheap, worked a treat, and done while you wait.

I got mine done in a shoe shop too. They even have the originnal plastic key design.

Never had a problem with them. Old keys are a very basiic design anyway. Save yourself some dosh !

Thanks for the replies,I went to the dealer in Cardiff armed with my v5 and driving licence and for £17 they have ordered a new key from Germany which will take 10 days , I asked them to post it on to me as I live 50 miles from Cardiff but they said I had to pick it up in person for security reasons,didn't see the posts about Timpsons until I got back.

Its never ceases to amaze me, Good old Mr Minit can cut a key for Germany's finest, but go and ask for one for a 1996 mondeo and alas they cannot be cut anymore.....!!
