Is there any requirement to change the coil packs when changing the spark plugs.

Just wondering if it makes much difference.

Thanks in advance

Generally no. However, these do wear down with age and I change mine around every 100,000 miles to ensure they are in optimum condition. They do wear down with age and despite a car seemingly to run fine, they won't be at their best under load etc.

E.g, the Volvos run spot on but, once new coil packs were installed as part of my persoanl preventative maintenance schedule the car's throttle response, sustained performance under full throttle/boost was marginally better. To me this means a lot and also avoids odd issues due to age/wear, to many its not worth the cost of coil packs until they fail outright.

However, I will always say, if/when you change them, change the entire lot at the same time.
