Specialist in Peterborough - Huntingdon area.

Has anyone personal experience of a specialist in the area around Peterborough and Huntingdon? Nothing too onerous (hopefully) on our 2007 CLK, just a routine 5-spd auto fluid change and to look at the aircon which is probably suffering a failed pressure sensor from the symptoms.

The closest I use is either Stewart and Wisbey in Chettisham near Ely or LG Motor Services in Swaffham.
There is a Citroen Specialist in Sawtry (Pleiades) which I have also used, would be closer and are very reasonable.

Thanks. Ideally we really want to keep things as local as possible. There is a Mercedes specialist called Euro Car Care in Farcet near Peterborough who have a good name with the general Mercedes owning public even not if a forum mention. Also one I'd not noticed until yesterday called Star Auto Services at Alconbury Hill near Huntingdon but haven't a clue about them. By chance I know Pleiades well ( I was a frequent customer of theirs for the recon green spheres right from when they first started up at a bungalow in the village), they are very close to me but I wanted someone who has STAR diagnostics and I'd assume they don't.

I'll just give this one bump and if no more thoughts I'll have to phone the local possibles and see how they do on the attitude test. Having DIY'd pretty well everything (bar aircon and recalls) for decades I find it a bit stressful engaging with unknown trade folks.... as I'm sure they do engaging with a guy who wants them to do the work but thinks he knows it all!

I'd try the Euro Car Care, as you say they have a good name. You can always call in and have a chat. First impressions and all that

Thanks. I was leaning their way but that's enough confirmation they are probably the right folks given we really don't want to travel far, they are only 5mins from somewhere we often shop. I'll get it booked in and report back.

Well I'm pleased to report Euro Car Care of Farcet (Nr Peterborough) came through in every respect. It suited us they don't waste money on plate glass, chrome/leather chairs, posh coffee and cinnamon buns but instead concentrated on being a friendly bunch, giving an initial realistic guide on potential costs, starting the job promptly, phoning once diagnosed (Star) with an updated estimate plus appropriate warning there could be an extra component needed (it wasn't) once the main issue was resolved, timely job completion and the bill which we deemed very fair to within a pound of the estimate with no extras.

They have 4.9/5 score from 40 Google reviews which looks a genuine reflection of their service.

Well done to them. We'll use them again without hesitation.

Glad you got sorted and these guys turned out good for you.
I did find out, just today that thete is Star Motors in Alconbury from the MB parts chap in Peterborough.
