Hello all

Just purchased a very clean 190 E (with the BIG badge on the grill!) and have discovered that the head gasket is blown (that'll teach me to believe the seller who said that it was a auto choke problem)

Anyhoo first enquiries have led me to believe that it's a 10 - 12 hour job and specialist Merc tools are needed.

Usually I'd just get on with it having stripped heads on a variety of things before from Minis to Supras (that WAS a big job!)

So is there really a need for specialist tools?

Wouldnt think so, replaced Merc heads before with no spealists tools, just keep an eye out for that dam allen bolt holding on the head hidden down the timing chain ope. If you have done Supras this should be a doddle

Thanks guys - just as I thought really, just needed confirmation.

Right then I'd better put a weekend away soon, now the rugby's over I can think about other things!

I'll post back when it's all done.
