yes i have. and i agree with it as they are a blight and do cause some serious problems.........but the problems the tory's face is what to replace them with. they are there to slow traffic so an alternative has to be used...which means more speed cameras...see road humps dont generate income, cameras do....tory's, money....you work it out.

and the tory's are just vote grabbing like the proposed 80mph limit on motoways......

The Lib Dems are going to put more cameras up and speed bumps, ban 4x4's and build more roads to ease congestion, improve public transport. build up the railways for freight........and who is gonna pay for all this....all those who earn more than £100k by the extra 10p tax.....we have an unlimited supply of 100k eaners it seems.

they are all gonna improve pensions and stop anyone over 75 paying for anything 2. plus the schools are gonna get more money and so is the NHS. They are all gonna clamp down on immigration by the following means. 1 is gonna stop them coming in, 1 is gonna leave it as it is but monitor it and the last are gonna lift all restrictions........

ever get the feeling they really think the public is stupid? we must be to vote for them.

Speed bumps are the most stupid thing ever invented. How many times have you wondered why the car in front is suddenly slowing down as you rear end her?

When they are near junctions, drivers can't judge the speed of cars and sit there looking stupid when you could have had a bus out in the gapor go to early and get T-boned by a Citroen.

They are all different hights, so you can't take any chances with ones you don't know.

My mums Audi feels every bump but my 230TE doesn't even notice half of them. I'm surprised I don't a have a 'speed bump' switch, much like F1 cars have one for the pit lane. (you can get snow chain switch, so it wouldn't hard to adapt that)

I haven't a clue who to vote for this time, but if the tories are going to get rid of the speed bumps...that'll do it for me.

I think a particularly nasty speedbump near my work contributed to my broken front coil spring. I didn't hit it very fast (well under the speed limit) but it's way bigger than it needs to be.

have you noticed they only usually put speed bumps and traffic calming(!) in 'well-to-do' areas? None of them ****** work, all they do is back traffic up and cause erratic driving. Same as speed cameras, but without the revenue creation. Makes me m-m-m-mad sir.
Thankfully the E300D passes over most of them easily and maybe could pull a few speed cameras down too.

There is great piece of traffic calming at Skinflats. It takes a so much concentration to get through it you probably wouldn't even notice a pedestrian bouncing of your bonnet. Some of the nibs are a bit tricky and you have to reverse a couple of times to get round them if you don't get the line right the first time.

I wonder what would happen if I went through there at 5 mph during rush hour?

One of the problems with speed bumps is Ambulances responding to 999 calls - each speed bump apparently can add 30 seconds to the return trip.

I have a mate that lives right next to a speedbump and all you can hear at certain times of the day is cars braking heavily and then accelerating away again - not nice and equally not green...

The only good thing is that it keeps some of the chavs out of some streets with their silly lowered cars and spoilers....

Chicanes are much more fun anyway....

Actually I deliberatly brake hard and acccelerate hard at speed bumps. I also drive excesivly slowly over them...as if my car is going to ground. I guess if we all did this, they might be removed or reevaluated at least.

I'm heading for Q&B in the retail estate later this week, I'll try out the excessive slowness at the speed bumps trick then.

I too have a similar style at speed bumps especially if it irritates the driver behind who is invariably a chav in a saxo.

The technique is to drive up to the first hump at normal speed and then at the last second its full braking to a halt and then gradually ease the vehicle up the the hump - for best effect wind down the window and stick your head out.

As you come down the other side then the chav will have pulled out to overtake you and at this point i floor it and leave him on the wrong side of the road in my tyre smoke as he pulls in behind you, you wait till he catches up and then oh no its another speed bump......

Where i live they are every 100 yards!! what makes it worse is that they must have spent many thousands of pounds fitting them whilst leaving the roads around them with masive potholes and cracks that you have to slow down for anyway!!!! The speed some people fly over them makes me laugh my arse off. You see mothers with their kids hitting the roof when they hit them at 40+. Chavs trying to get as much air as they can

Many of them have oil trails leading from them too  LOL!!

But on the serious side of it, the emergancy services absolutley detest them for obvious reasons. The bus companys say the cost of repair has rocketed since they were laid, and many of the residents hate them cos of the noise and polution they create.

And i also slow right down for the buggers, much to the anger of the tossers behind me. The closer they get to my rear bumper the slower i get

I had one prick overtake me the other week and he hit the speed bump so hard on one side that his car lifted up on two wheels  Oh how i laughed as 100 yards down the road he got stuck behind a bus going slower than i was :p
