Speed / Cruise /tiptronic Error S211

Wife was out in car today and had the above error come up on dash, pulled over, switched off restarted and fault cleared. Any ideas what the likely cause is or could it just be put down to the amount of water its been plugging through over the weekend?

Water could be an issue. If the road conditions are particularly bad they will disable themselves.
