Speed Limiter Beeping

Hi,

I've got a SLK 230K 2000. A few days back one of my rear lights blow and my speed limiter stopped working. I changed the bulb and the speed limiter started working again. But next day the speed limiter stopped working again, but as far as I can tell all the bulbs are OK.

Does anyone know what could be causing this?

There is no connection between the speed limiter and any bulbs, it would be best to hook the car up to STAR to see what has gone wrong, is the CC working ok

When you attempt to engage the speed limiter does it just display a series of dashes ("---") instead of the speed?
Is your speedometer needle unsteady?
If so the look at abs sensor or front hub reluctor rings. If the speed limiter works until you drive over a certain speed then it will be the reluctor rings.

Other than that I think a scan on a STAR machine will be required.

At any speed the Speed Limiter just shows dashes. The Cruise Control works as normal. I haven't noticed any problems with the Speedometer.

It looks like the STAR test would be a good idea.
