Hi
I am looking into purchasing a Pioneer in-car Navigation system for my 2001 SLK200.  One of the requirements the unit needs for referencing exact position is a speed signal?  Can any member enlighten me if my SLK has this facility, and if so, is it digital, analogue and any idea as to where and how I connect to it?

Thanks in Advance

The radio-connector plug usually incorporates a speed signal (for varying the volume with speed and for use with MBs own radio/navigation unit.

It think it may be digital pulses, but not sure.

I had a nightmare with this.  You might need to buy a converter that changes the speed signal from the (CANBUS)?  system to a PULSE OUTPUT.  Contact a VERY reputable car audio dealer and ask.  I ended up paying £50 for one, but was quoted up to £120.  Good luck - I know that Blaupunkt systems crash if this signal isn't correct.  Not so sure about other systems...
