I was driving down the A303 toward andover today doing 130mph at the last minuite i saw a patrol unit  in a bmw x5 i could not slow down quick enough. I had a quick glimps at the unit they had windows up but could not see if they had radar gun if they did can this be used with windows up and does it have to be used on tri-pod? lucky the unit got blocked by traffic and was unable to chase i came of at next junction and made my way home to type this any help would be great thanks. If i get caught this will be my first dealings with the police and i think i could poss loose liscence:sad: silly i know.

130

I think >100 mph is a definate ban, plus points & fine. At 130, if they clocked you at that - it could be even worse. If it's your first offence then they may be leniant, but - at 130 ... I doubt it.

I'm not sure about the window issue. There's some proper uk speeding forums somewhere though - you may be best asking there (just google!).

130 is just crazy though. You obviously don't value your own life, but what about those around you? *boggle*

I doubt that very much (particularly for a first offense). But have you ever stopped to think about the Her Majesty's Pleasure expression? Does she really p!ss herself laughing every time someone is put inside?

I trust the A303 has a 70mph limit? Otherwise (assuming they did clock you) you can say goodbye to the licence for a while.

One day, the motorway was clear so I gave the car a blast and hit about 135mph, I then noticed a police range rovery thing going the other way on the opposite carragge way.

The next day, there was one of these vans that sits on the flyovers and records the speeds of traffic on the motorway. I saw it in plenty of time and noted I was doing about 85mph so I didn't even bother slowing down.

I got done for doing 83mph in a 70mph!

I don't think their radar gun will work correctly from within the vehicle. If they have your speed measured then they will be at your door pretty quickly.

They will have known you were execessivly speeding but they may not be able to much about it at the moment.

130MPH? My God...What chance has anyone else in your vicinity got, when your travelling at that speed? Get yourself off to a track if your gonna do that.
To call it 'silly' is a gross understatement, and I doubt you'll get much sympathy here my friend.

I have just added to Her Majestys Pleasure:rolleyes: 60 pieces of paper with her face on. Oh and some of those nice point things so she remembers who she got the £60 off:D

Interesting...I was having a read at the small print:

Disqualification as a result of driving under the influence of drink or drugs or reckless, dangerous, careless or inconsiderate driving is excluded.

IMHO, getting caught at 130 would also bring a charge of reckless or dangerous, or alternatively, careless or inconsiderate driving, so maybe just as well Dan had'nt spotted this earlier, as it doesn't look like they would have paid out!
Every cloud......;-)

Dan...I'm not disputing that everyone has been guilty of speeding at some point. But 130mph? C'mon matey...you have to admit...you cannot be considering other people when you travel at that speed! I take it you have seen the devastation caused at that speed?
'the fact is your either lucky or your not. i just may not be.'...Nope, I think you can count yourself very lucky to still be breathing.
BTW...Hands up...I have 3 points! 35mph in 30 zone. And that was an infuriating one, considering the 10 percent rule. 2mph less and I was in the clear!

Lots of interesting comments!

I think that 100+ means a ban and a signicent fine, your insurance company will be unimpressed as well. I am sure that you dont get sent down for a first speeding offence.

However where are all these comments about 130 been a crazy speed coming from! getting caught is the mistake, doing 130mph if it isnt safe is crazy, doing 20mph if it isnt safe is also crazy. Maybe I am missing something but I didnt buy three high performance MB's just because I like the colour, although actually I do like the colours :)

I assume that the "crazy brigade" will stick to 70 if they have the good fortune to take their cars to Germany and drive the autobahns.

Mark.

I've never done 130 - so it's not just a matter of luck.

What's alarming is you say the police car couldn't chase you because of the traffic. The idea that there are people on our roads who think it's okay to go at 130 with that much traffic around is quite scary.

Couple of good race tracks not that far from you, when you lose your license you could always get somebody to take you there.
130 -- should be good for a years ban:rolleyes:

i know it doesnt make it any better but it was not a lot of traffic about five cars also some speeding they gave me enough time to exit before they saw me. but later i went back down to see if they were there to see if they had gun but they had pulled some one else. dont imagine me to be sat here laughing about it either i have almost taken my self to police station and told them what happened but not quite this would be my first ever dealings with police and i really dont think i will risk it again.

Do not go to police. If they want you, they will send a nice letter asking you to confirm if you were the driver.
