Any ideas on why the speedometer and fuel gauge won't start reading correctly right off the bat. It finally kicks in after driving for awhile, but not from the start. I'm not sure if the temp gauge is doing the same thing or if it is just gradually going up to running temperature.

Your Mercedes
c238,w120 (diesel)
i have a similar problem on my 1995 C220

basically the temp guage and RPM guage stay at 0 until i tap the instrument panel screen in the areas that are affected namely left side and right side, then they hop into correct position

i'm guessing that some contacts within the instrument panel are dying because after that point they work just fine,

anybody know why this is happening and how to fix it ?

cheers
