For the last few mornings when it has been colder, I have noticed that the speedometer takes a couple of miles before it starts working properly. It starts off not regestering any speed, then slowly catches up to what it should be reading.
The mileometer seems to be ticking over at the correct rate. Do you think it is the mechanical movement in the display that is sticking? Presume its electricaly driven ? Anyone else had this fault?

Hi Matt, we used to get this problem on earlier cars where the needle stuck to the stop pin,,but this would not appear to be the problem,,I cannot say that I have seen it before.

when it is not working,,jive the dash a thump on top of the cluster,,that will tell you if it is a connection fault

Tried thumping it to no avail.

Be interesting to see if it gets worse as the weather gets colder.

The fault must be in the cluster,,it might be worth asking the guys that fix the displays if they have heard of the fault
