Flash here; hello everyone: My lovely 200te is a pig to start. it starts on about the third go. It smells of petrol for a bit after that. Then it will run fine for a good while, then it will splutter at junctions. Then if I stop it, it won't start. If I leave it for 5 to 10 minutes, it starts fine. I bridged the fuel pump relay and the fuel pump works fine. I have replaced all the leads, distributer cap and rotor arm. Could it be because I live in France the car doesn't like French people?
Happy new year

Could be many things.

Has it lost any power at all?

Does it stall?

Is it a 123 or 124, do you have a smokey exhaust. The crankshaft sensor on a 124 can give the problems that you are having if it is not over fueling.

It smokes at the beginning, then calms down; It's a w124; The car had the stalling problem when i bought it, but as I explained i changed the O.V.P. relay.
The guy I bought it of said the garage had mucked around with the mixture to get it to stop stalling, which didn't work!!!!
They have put a new MAF on it and cleaned out the injectors. Next to the coolant temperature sensor, there is a nut threaded into the cylinder head with two straw sized tubes coming out of it. these tubes bend back on themselves by 90 degrees inside rubber sleavings ( vacuum I think ).... Well on of the connections that the tube fits on is broken. Would this be anything. I do appreciate all your input.
