spring confusion

need 2 new front springs for my c class 2002 SE coupe 143 bhp chassis no WDB2037062A424365 ,,, Ive just been on the euro parts web site and thay are 30.99 each which sounds good,, however when i press the details tab it says there for a classic or elegance model ,,yet id put my reg in and it came up with the correct car a SE model just to confuse me more it as the number CL203 as well,, can any one ex-plane and is there any difference between the CLASSIC ELEGANCE or SE ?????? the cars just failed it mot and i would like to fix it ASP

I think to avoid any wrong ordering I would buy them from MB there is little difference in the price, and you can always ask for a 10% discount,, there are so many variables on this

+ 1, also if you can get the colour coding from the spring, little dashes of paint it helps.

also if i remember correctly, the SE is only a variant on the CLASSIC/ELEGANCE as they got extra toys without being options ie Special Equipment or similar. i believe that the elegance and elegance se (or classic/classic se) should in theory have the same springs. however i cannot be certain on this

thanks boys your making me a bit more confident now,,,im supprised the main dealer would be of simlar price but i will try them

star the color code is a great indication ill check to see its raining hard at the moment never thought of that

turbo your probably right with your theory and im sure somone will confirm this shortly

just had the car jacked up and the spring as a nice clear RED band any thoughts or suggestions

Call a main dealer with chasis no and colour cde, was it just the 1 red stripe? we've found that after market springs aren't as sensitive so the car might be high or too low. not worth it.

star,, there was just one broad stripe around the spring about 1.5 inch thick

euro phone me back and assured me thay had the correct springs,, so i bought them but then it got hard ,,,,,these are difficult springs to compress with out hydraulics,,,, there very big and the top housing goes in at an angle ,,,,so bought a pair of spring compresses and wow there difficult ,,,,so yesterday in between work did one side and got the spring off the other ,,but i again need to compress it ,,, its hard but done one side so ill manage the other

Pleased that you are getting there,,do take care with the compressors, lethal things.

well finally done and a difficult job this side took me 2hours 5min start to finish so reasonable ,,,,the other side double that,, but there on now and i feel self satisfaction
