I've decided to do the front suspension on my W203 C class Avantgarde. No problems with it but it is now 20 years old and as far as I can see only one spring has ever been changed according to any records I have. There doesn't seem to be any colour markings left, so the question is what ones from the plethora on offer? The on line parts catalog gives some impenetrable formula for calculation. There is one offered as for Avantgarde by Eibach 1 white/2 red marks 390x12.5mm A203 321 4804 but the same markings for a Sachs come as 396x13mm. Any information and advice appreciated.

Well because you dont know the code for the one on the car its best to buy a matched pair .Never replace a single spring or any other suspension part ,replace them in pairs .

Spring specs depend on car spec. Options add weight. In my case, even the radio added 1 point to the rear springs.

MB should be able to decipher this for you and supply the correct springs. They will use the VIN of your car.

Punching your registration number into an aftermarket parts supplier is notoriously unrealiable.

We got 4 MB Sportline ones and all is well. Slightly higher than I envisaged but with the roads around here, I'm happy.

I'm going to replace everything and having had one spring replaced sometime (I think) I can't be sure which may be the original. Struts, springs, top mounts and dust covers are all on standby to order. Even looking at the strut shock top mount spacer sleeve nut A0009900365 which is a ridiculous €20 for 2 deliveredo_O

Then they're hopeless and should be named and shamed.

Try MB Newcastle, many on this board use them and they will send the parts to you.

Oh, just saw you're in Normandy. Still, name and shame.

What about MannesPieces? Around 3€ there too.
