2002 Sprinter 311 CDI
Hello.

I am having some issues with my 2002 LWB Sprinter 311 CDI at 160k miles.

Basically the cab heating will only work when the engine is running at over 1000 rpm, at idle it just blows cold air. Even when coasting it just blows cold.

I am also concerned about the pressure in the water system, i dont have another van to compare it with but it seems that it is too big, the pipes are almost rock solid and even after a 1 hour rest i still get a lot of pressure release when opening the header tank.

I have changed the thermostat and rad cap and had the radiator "sniffed" for combustion gasses.

I have only just bought the van and it does look like the radiator has recently been replaced with a second hand one. could this be the culprit?

Any help would be hugely appreciated.

Thanks.

Heating problem solved...

It was the heater recirculation pump.
