2004 sprinter 311cdi
Hi new to forum. Have a quick question. Iv bought a 311 cdi 2004. After buying and getting home i realised there is no oil light, coolant light, edc light showing on cluster. Anyone know what the issue could be? Vehicle drives really nice and have already done about 500 miles but just do not understand why them lights are not showing up. Thought someone would have pulled the bulbs out but after further investigation i am led to believe that the cluster has led's and not bulbs so confused as to why them lights are not showing up at all.

Many thanks in advance

I don't remember seeing a oil light, battery light, or coolant etc
just > park brake, abs anti lock glow plug coil, and a few others.

I cant remember the difference between mkI & mkII dash boards
Edit>
Just checked the workshop car park theres a 313 out there but totally different dash.

Yep the MkI
There's supposed to be the missing warning lights along the bottom to the left iirc,
they suffer from bad connections on the clusters board.
Check your fuses first, if ok.
Pull the dash and check the connections are tight and corrosion free.

Ok will check fuses tomorrow. I tried a different cluster today and same problem. Still no oil or coolant or edc light showing on ignition.
Guy seems to think someone could have deleted them lights via a computer?? Just womdering if thats possible. Will check fuses tomorrow if no luck then will have to get it connected to a star machine

Ok i took out the 25A ecu fuse and the oil light came on along with edc loght amd glow plus light. I put the fuse back in amd lights dissapear again? Strange. Also still never managed to see a coolant light. Cant understand why the lights do not show on ignition.

H
Check your earthing points
Hi i had the earthing point checked and all seems fine. Im baffled. Also took out the ecu and gave it a quick clean. Cant understand what else it can be.

Is it possible for someone to delete them warning lights? Do you think it could be the ecu itself?

The fact that the lights worked with fuse removed points to something interfering with that circuit.

It goes to ground with +12v removed so is finding a route to earth due to high resistance or poor grounding,
there are many earthing points to check, not just one.

The fuse box its self may have corrosion on the mutiplugs.

Even a faulty relay somewhere pulling an earth on the circuit,
you really need a wiring diagram I will see if I have one tomorrow.

I suppose that makes sense. Still havent managed to see a coolant light though. Strange thing is today the edc light was coming on at times and at other times was not coming on when i turn the key in ignition before starting.
