Sprinter 316 diesel engine noise

Hi,

Engine noise from 2002 316 Sprinter van on start up that goes away when press clutch.

Any ideas anyone?

sounds like the clutch release bearing rattling. many diesels seem to do this, especially on larger vehicles like vans. its usually harmless. the clutch usually fails before the bearing does
