Well it's finally gone and done it. My vans let me down and not got me to where i wanted to go. 3 years and 105,000 miles and it's not got me to my gig. It has however got me back home as i was only an hour away.

A problem i had a while back that seemed to clear itself up. Engine cuts out, fuel cuts off, EDC light comes on. Ignition off and on cures it. For a few seconds, or a few minutes, and then it does it again. Engine is running rough, missing coughing, spluttering. I'd put it down to fuel but i can't be sure. It keeps coming and going, so it'll be fine for a few thousand miles and then come back. I've got it booked in Monday to have fault codes read but the guy whilst very good, isn't a merc specialist so i'd appreciate any pointers. I really need the van to be reliable as it's cost me nearly £1000 today in lost work and had i not been lucky and found a replacement, i could have let the band (Alvin Stardust) down.

Perhaps it's time for a new one if its reliability isn't going to be what it has been. Having driven the new ones though and looked at the price of nearly new ones and how much i'd lose, it's increasingly tempting to go elsewhere for one.

Check the vac unit under the air filter, they are prone to go also the pipes to it as it needs vac to work the waste gate etc and if this or the pipes are split then it will bring the light on. Also the turbo sensor on the pass side frt, in the inlet intercooler pipe, to bolts and wire, take it out and cleean it and while your there take out the other next to it and clean it. Check wiring to these and the vac unit, it runs along the frt of the chassis and rubs through on the corner of the rad and plays up when it earths, probably the first thing I would check, if I did not have star handy.

Hope it helps, stick with the van the new 515 are still not cutting the mustard for me yet, there having loads of problems which MB know nothing about, cough!

Well, i've done all the things you mentioned so that's no doubt only done it good. Fault codes read and injector 1 is playing up. It's the fault that comes up every time it does it. So ones going in tomorrow and a service whilst it's there. Hopefully that'll cure it.

Just need to put a new exhaust on it and fix my heater booster thingy now before the weather starts getting much colder and she'll be good as new.
