Well it's finally gone and done it. My vans let me down and not got me to where i wanted to go. 3 years and 105,000 miles and it's not got me to my gig. It has however got me back home as i was only an hour away.
A problem i had a while back that seemed to clear itself up. Engine cuts out, fuel cuts off, EDC light comes on. Ignition off and on cures it. For a few seconds, or a few minutes, and then it does it again. Engine is running rough, missing coughing, spluttering. I'd put it down to fuel but i can't be sure. It keeps coming and going, so it'll be fine for a few thousand miles and then come back. I've got it booked in Monday to have fault codes read but the guy whilst very good, isn't a merc specialist so i'd appreciate any pointers. I really need the van to be reliable as it's cost me nearly £1000 today in lost work and had i not been lucky and found a replacement, i could have let the band (Alvin Stardust) down.
Perhaps it's time for a new one if its reliability isn't going to be what it has been. Having driven the new ones though and looked at the price of nearly new ones and how much i'd lose, it's increasingly tempting to go elsewhere for one.
