Our W124 E220 has developed an intermittant squeak or high pitched vibration from the centre console area. Took ages to find where it's coming from as it only happens now and again, but seems to be from behind the AC controls or behind the heater. I've tried turning the fan off completely and that stops it we think. Happens mostly when accelerating from a junction or any time you slow down and accelerate.
Has anyone had this happen before and what was the culprit ?
One of the temp controls on the AC console has lost it's bulb so I guess the console will have to come out at some stage anyway.
