Has a repetative squeak that tends to stop when you take your foot off the accelerator. The cycle of the squeak is independent of engine speed but seems like it might be too slow to be the turning of a wheel. A bit hard to tell where it is comming from. Is this 'classic' for anything? Where should I start?

Thanks ...

I don't think so ... I will double check tomorrow though.

It does not occur when still, only when accelerating but I will check it does not start when I rev the motor.

Then have someone in the car with the foot brake applied, and put it in D you can give it a little throttle, and maybe find where the squeak is

I had a very annoying squeak on my sl, took me weeks to find out what it was. Checked everything on the suspension e.t.c, turned out much to my annoyance to be the bonnet catches. Fingerful of grease in each one sorted.

Does it get louder when you have lots of gizmo's on ie, heated seats, window, steering wheel or heated screens (high current draw)
I am thinking Alternator noise that gets worse if you put a lot of drain on it?

I'll check that out - though would the noise cycle vary with engine speed?
