Hi, my engine ancilliaries are making a squeaking noise. If I spray the belts then this goes away. Is it a bearing problem? Do I need to replace or lubricate something in particular? Advice needed! Thanks.

Its proberly a slightly loose belt/s problem. The tensioner/s would need tightening if so. Its worth checking the state of the belt itself. It should be free of any cracks (which tend to run across the width of belt) and glazing.

What models is your car?

Mike.

Hi, sorry I wasn't very descriptive on my previous message. It isn't a squeaking like with a loose fan belt first thing in the morning on a cold day, more a bearing type noise. Not exactly a squeak, can't describe it! Everything was fine then I went for a 3hr blast run down the motorway and now something is making a noise. It isn't the engine, more something connected to a pulley/belt. Hope this helps! It's a 1991 190E 1.8 manual.

Sorry, I'm not explaining things properly. I spray all the pulleys and devices attached to them with WD40, not the belts. Cheers.

Could be altenator bearings on the way out. Approx 80quid to recondition.

never saw this on previos post,if it is a 190 then it will be the tensioner bearing.....they are a common for making belts sound noisey.
