Squeaky CC fan

There is a noisy squeak coming from the climate control fan under the front passenger glove compartment/footwell.
I took the front plastic cover off to have a look, to be confronted with another black plastic/ sealed cover.
Is this a job for MB or is it easy enough for a DIY type like me (this is probably at the high end of my mechanical ability )
If I can squirt wd40 or apply grease to the fan I am hoping this will help.

Any ideas, experience with noisy fans??

It depends on your ability - but - ...
when my E class fan started to whistle I assumed it was a fan bearing too. My indie put me straight and advised that whist the noise is the same, the fault is more commonly caused by the fan regulator pack which is located under the fan in the same housing. Unfortunately there is no real way to differentiate by sound so it's a leap of faith but I changed the reg pack (V easy for a diyer- 20 mins) and that sorted it. IMO It's doubtful that the fan will have failed so quickly as these tend to run trouble from for 10+ years, but when I changed my regulator the car wasn't yet 5.
