Squeaky/noisy sunroof

Hi

The sunroof on my car is making awful squeaky kinda noises and it annoyning the the hell out of me. This especially happens when around town, when at speed its fine.

Can someone please give me pointers where to look and how to rectify this?

When i push up on the glass whilst driving its stops

It got a C200 2003 coupe with the panoramic roof.

Its quite a large piece of glass on that panoramic roof, so it may move slightly on bumpy town roads. It sounds as if it may not be locked in place correctly and may need adjustment.

For now try applying a little silicon lubricant onto the guides, runners and along the seal edges. You wont need much, but it should stop the squeeking. Even if not, most problems with sunroofs are down to lack of lubrication and so you'll be preventing future problems for the sake of a few quid and minutes.

PTFE is even better and cleaner to use for the mechanism, Silicon is perfect for rubber

sorry to sound a numpty but where can i get some silicon lubricant and PTFE - whatever that is!

All in aerosol form from Halfords, with PTFE you can use it all over the house, spray some into your front door lock and key, and it will be silky smooth to open, it does not hurt any paint or plastics
