At slow speeds I find my brakes sometimes squealing on my 'O3 sl500. The dealer attempted to fix it at the last scheduled service but it has now returned.
Clearly I will let the dealer have another crack at this but is this a common problem ?

BTW everything else seems to work pretty well. The bulletproof 5L certainly uses less oil than my previous E39 M5 :) although it is of course slightly more leisurely through the gears

Hi,
it sounds like the pads have gone hard :) I had this happen on my car just after I got it. main thing to do is check that the disks have worn evenly and there is no damage to them. Mine sounded awful I had a couple of thousand miles left on them but I changed them anyway.

Best regards,

Peter

Hi

You haven't mentioned mileage? How the car is driven, etc. Also are the discs and pads genuine MB spec?

Most common cause of squeeling is that pads can glaze with heat. Strip down, renew pads if necessary, apply liberal coating of copper-ease (high temperature grease) to backs of pads and reassemble. Remember to renew guide-pin bolts and torque to correct spec.

Check discs also. There shouldn't be ant tell-tale heat spots or ridges in the face. Wear should be even across the face of the disc, on both sides. Sometimes heat spots are caused by a sticky piston or warped discs (heat).
