lt has the 390mm discs and internally ceramic composite upgraded brakes (whatever they are) and despite two MB Dealers and one good Independent looking at them (copper grease on pads, etc.) they are STILL squealing and driving me mad.

Any ideas/tips?

Would replacing the pads cure it?

Pads may be glazed and causing the problem, also do they squeal cold and hot.. has your pads got the stainless steel shims, these should help to stop the problem

Brake pads do need to be bedded in and this can take 2-300 miles, during this time heavy braking should be avoided if possible .

It is the surface of the disc that makes the pads squeal, and it is the pads resonating on this surface that makes the noise.

Lightly sanding the disc can help, as can the correct greasing, MB say the piston end should be greased, others say the rear of the pad

They don't squeal when cold, only when they've warmed up.

The MB Dealers are supposed to have deglazed them whereas the Indie applied lots of copper grease behind the pads.

Im wondering if you are using the correct pads to suit the upgraded discs...any way of getting someone to check the pad type..or even the brand name of the discs and contacting the makers for an opinion

There are rather a lot of pads on this particular AMG F1 pack setup.

How can l find out what the options are?

ls there a link to an MB website with spare parts listed?

You could use pads like EBC I use them and have for years as I do not like dirty wheels.

Braking generates very high temperatures, which cause resins in the brake pads to evaporate, producing gasses. These gasses form a film between the pad and the disc, reducing efficiency including squeal. some new pads now come having gone through a heat treatment to scorch them.

other OE pads are made by TMD and bendix,, it depend on the make of the calipers

How can l tell if they are genuine MB pads already?

Having done some research it seems like EBC Redstuff might be a suitable good alternative?

The EBC red have a very good bite, and no noise, I had them on my last SL

MB do not make pads or disc, TMD makes the most for MB you might find a part number on the old pads
