Sorry if this has been mentioned before..

I have a 1994 C220 and needed to replace a couple of bulbs behind the dashboard. I managed to 'ease' the dashboard out without having to remove the wheel, in the process I disconnected both of the leads going to the dashboard. - I should add, I didn't disconnect the battery ! - perhaps I should have??

Refitted the dashboard OK

But now when I turn the ignition all the warning lights come on (As they should) and the SRS momentarily blinks and then stays on when all the others have gone out.

After about 60 seconds the SRS warning light goes out and stays OFF..

Now am I right in thinking that the only way to sort this out is to take my car to my local MB dealer (and god do I have hate going there) who can clear the problem for about half an hours labour..

Or is there another problem? I have read about a switch in the seat belt buckle - but I can't see any wiring ??

Many Thanks in advance

John

Yes, You should have disconnected the battery. Once the 'fault' is detected it remains "latched". The SRS light can be reset by the dealer in 5 minutes. However, the light should normally stay on and not go off after 60 secs if it is indicating a fault.
