Has anyone else had this problem ?? It seems there's a fault with the seat. Surely this should be a Mercedes recall if that's the case??? I found this thread on another site :
Yes same problem SRS light. The problem is the wires under the seat are two short and when seat is raised it pulls on the wires which in turn causes a short in the wires. Suggest when you do the repair raise the seat to the highest point and move all the way to the front and back to make sure all wires have some slack in them. My indy says this has been a common problem and has repaired many cars by just doing some work on the wires under the seat. But mine caused damge in the buckle. The wire harnest comes in the new buckle and is not a seperate part.

Any other 171 preface lift you might wannt to get on your knees and do the test from above to void future problems.
