Stalling upon start-up

Good evening,

C Class C200 Sport 1995

I have owned this car for nearly three years and it hasn't missed a beat until a couple of days ago.

The car always starts first time and runs smoothly but when you go to shift the auto gearbox to reverse / drive it loses power and stalls - it appears to be getting marginally worse each day.

Starting isn't a problem but keeping the revs up once you move the gears is a problem yet after a few minutes (as though the car has 'warmed up') everything is fine.

As usual, any guidance, advice or assistance would be most welcome and may I say thanks in advance.

What happens if you move the gear lever to neutral?

Just wondering if it's a load on the engine that's causing the stall..

If you have a MAF thats 5 or 8 in the link,unplug it and try the car

Gentlemen,

Here is the heads-up.

Went out early this morning and gave the car five minutes to warm-up (without trying to engage gears) then drove it to work with no problem whatsoever.

Coming home from work, started it up and then immediately put in D and the car started to stall. I then whacked it in neutral and it was ok. Exactly the same for R.

Five / six minutes later, after a good warm-up, I drove home as normal without a problem - as clear as mud now I bet ??!!

Very interested to hear if you solved problem. I have similar symptoms on my C230K plus it runs a bit on the jerky side on light throttle. Engine revs smoothly in neutral
