People!!!!!
Urgent help needed.
I was just about to re install the new starter motor and decided to check the wiring with a meter to make sure 12Volts was still getting to the terminals. I remember taking off three terminals however that has now foxed me because surely the earth is via the casing of the motor? If anyone has access to the wiring diagram for this area that would be awesome. Obviously there is a connection from the battery, then the wiring from the ignition key, so what would be the third connection be? And should I only be seeing 12Volts from one wire? As I’m not seeing 12Volts from the fuse terminated wire. Thus the wiring diagram would be really useful,.....Please!!!!

Just to add, where does the fused wire connect to? Has a rather large fuse inside it’s chamber.

STAR is at the workshop, but some have a wire from the alternator to the starter motor. The smaller wire is ingition key

NB you should have the battery disconnected when doing the starter motor, its very easy to ground out the cable...

Yep. Got the small wire. That fits nicely on the smaller solenoid tread. Then the larger thicker wire will go on the larger solenoid thread. And then I have Another thick wire with an in-line fuse. Should have noted it like a professional Always does. Oh!!! I am a professional engineer. Doh!!!

Surely google will provide, a starter motor is a fairly bog standard thing.

You would have thought so. I scoured google for a few hours yesterday in search for the answer. I did find a m-b technical website but then couldn’t get in. However I think the photo above has answered my question.

3 is labelled as bracket
2 is labelled as starter solenoid
1 is power feed.

I suspect the ring terminals go on top of one another but I would need to confirm.

That looks logical to me. As there is nothing else it could be connected to. I could also do with knowing if there should only be One 12Volt source. Which is what I currently have. But then what is that third lead doing?
