On a C280.......when I get in at first (in this weather) the windscreen is all condensation inside and has to be wiped, once the car is warmed up it's fine but the rear windows dont clear, I know all is well regarding coolant leaaking ect.

Also....are these any good...

And err....where would this fit as I only have one "space" for the radio...

I think its just that time of year. My rear door windows hardly cleared in certain conditions, but I've given them a good scrub and put Rain X anti mist on them and they are better now. I think the film of dirt that builds up on interior glass promotes misting up.

I wouldnt worry about the steamed windows, all our cars are doing it at the moment, I think it is just that it is so cold.

The chrome rings - perfect for your next car - assuming youre going chav and select a little Peugot or Renault or whatever the budding 17 year old currently buys - but unlikely on an MB.

The Tape box - I think I recognise that - it was fitted to my 1985 Ford Orion - and dropped as too tacky for Ford drivers when I got a 1987 model of the same car. Even assuming that you had the space (which you said you haven't) then why would you want it. Doesnt everyone keep tapes in the glove box?

hope this is of some help :)

If you have aircon its worth changing the pollen/dust filter as this can lead to the system not operating properly. The humidity levels in the car will build up if the filter is clogged.

Thanks for the steamed windows replies....I'll get some rain x, dont know why I didnt htink of it earlier even though I'd used before with the bike.

mlc.....I notice you say why do I want to cassette box if I dont have the space, I dont have the space where the radio is but I thought it might have fitted inside the cubby hole at the arm rest like I did in my Saab, but obviously not.

I not also you mention NOT going for the chrome ring's, I thought they looked good, all I was going to do was the heater switches and (maybe, dont know for sure) the clocks, I dont think it looks to chav like.

Stulc,

I wasnt for a minute suggesting that you would be going Chav on us. I suspect that $18 on Ebay doesnt produce the quality of Chrome that you would want to add to your MB, any extras you add (in my opinion) should always look as if they were original fit, so the quality and sizing needs to be perfect.

Please let us know how you go on.

Oh why not.....it would give me a god excuse to dig out my sportsgear and Burbery cap....lol....

Yea I know what you mean, so you think if I wanted something like that go to the dealer first, apart from probably getting ripped off good style they would probably be alot better quality/fit.

I had the tape box on my C220. Its quite neat really. It goes in the cubby hole under the radio and I thought finished off the dash really well. That said, as you will no doubt have a CD player, why would you want it?

Windows steaming
1) clean windows thoroughly
2) check for leaks - though doubtful on one as new as yours
3) Always drive with aircon switched on
4) Make sure filters are clean
usually covers it.

Stulc, I fitted these chrome rings from eBay on my heater switches, also one for the gearlever escutcheon but I would't personally go further than that. The quality is fine for the interior and they can be easily removed again if so desired.

P.S. and I'm well over 17! :)

I dont have anything below the radio thats why I thought I might have fitted in the cunny hole at the arm rest, but maybe not. Yes I have a changer but have a tape deck and have alot of tapes.

Stu,
if you look at the photo, the sides are slightly angled so its wider at the top than the bottom. This is to fit the contour of the centre console so I am pretty certain that's where it goes.

£2 is a pretty good price - mine listed at £50 back in 98. I had the dealer put it in as compensation after it broke down just after delivery.

I can only speak for the items I mentioned, but I am happy with them. They're self-adhesive and stuck well and they fitted nicely. To me it is just enough to finish off the switches agaist the burr-walnut. They can be had for the instrument dials as you know, and also the ventilator louvres and electrical switches, but I think all those would be just a bit OTT.

Yea I know what you mean, but where did you read £2? (Jberks), I think there about £18....I'm still tempted...but there shipped (or air mail) from the States.

I just thought with the black sports interior and carbon dash ect because I have the chrome MB ring logo on the steering wheel putting the ring's in the clock's and at the heater (no where else just there) would maybe break thing's and give a nice touch.

can anyone send in a photo of theirs if they have that?
