Hi people,

I have seen how to adjust the play out of the steering box, but i don't seem to be able to get an allen key into bolt due to lack of clearence from the exhaust manifold. Is this normal. I am in the process of hack sawing an allen key to try and make it fit, unless some bright spark can tell me an easier way.

thanks

I have taken the exhaust manifold off in the past although the simplist solution is to remove the allen head bolt from under the right hand engine mount and jack the engine up an inch. Remember to protect the sump with some soft wood as you don't want to crack it. If you can't adjust all the slack out of the steering I will send you a copy of my w123 steering box refurbishment notes.

In answer to you other question all estates were fitted with self levelling suspension not the saloons. Some individuals have stripped out the self levelling and replaced with standard. My paper on self levelling valve refurbishment may be of interest to you.
