My 4 year old E280 Elegance has developed sqeaking when the wheel is turned at low speads and after 20 mins or so driving.
The main dealer has changed the rubber boot and applied lubrication but to no avail. They now say that it is almost certainly a bearing at the bottom of the column which can only be remedied by replacing the whole steering column at the cost of circa £700. Otherwise the steering is perfectly ok and there is no safety issue. Has anyone else had this problem please and what was the outcome. Thanks
