It is not shown on those illustrations as it is a steering column connection above the steering box.

Bruno, I guess you still feel your steering is not tight enough and you thought the column coupler is suspect - right ?

Have you done the test with the car on the ground and the road wheels straight ahead.

Engine and ignition off.

You just turn the steering wheel 1 inch only, first one way and then then 1 inch the other way.

Both ways the road wheels should start to move in the appropriate direction.

If it is too slack, is the steering wheel level in the straight ahead position ?

If not you need to investigate the tracking and get it adjusted to bring the steering wheel back in line. The Merc steering is at it's tightest when the steering wheel and the steering box are BOTH in the central position at the same time. There is a mark and/or temporary pin that goes into the box to set it at the central position.

I am assuming you have checked the normal wear items in the various linkages including the wheel bearings and idler bush.
