Oh dear

This isnt good news. If you cant get the key to position 1 then I think you will find you are in for a load of drilling and hammering to get that lock off.

Perhaps someone herehas found a quicker way but IIRC, it aint going to be a pleasant job.

Try posting your question on the Technical Information & Support forum, you may get a better response but I think you have got a job in front of you. Best of luck

I know how to remove the barrel turn it to pos 1 and insert the removal tool.
That is the problem I can?t get the key to turn and I can?t remove the steering lock until I remove the barrel

i see what you mean, another trick is to put the key in and work the steering wheel from side to side till the key turns, hold the key as if trying to turn it on whils doing it

Sorry - I have just picked this up.

You clearly know enough to know that you are in the dwang with this one.

I do know of cases where people have almost given up as a lost cause and then tried this:

Put the steel key in the ignition (you can pour some oil in keyhole first if you wish).

Then if you have a jigsaw (cutting type not picture type) - power it up (without a blade) and apply it to the end of the key, a pair of long nose pliers gripping the sides of the key too and try and rotate while the vibes are exciting the mechanism.

If you have not got a jigsaw I have heard of success stories getting the key to position I using a 'vibrator' - the only problem there is finding one.

If the above fails it is a drill and destroy mission! (as I think you know).

Good Luck

jigsaw joy!!

Yes, it works!
After being nearly resigned to hours of hacking to remove another jammed ignition lock & having suffered at least one blister from trying to turn the key to position '1', I tried the jigsaw trick & it worked in about 30 seconds!

Dunno about the 'vibrator' option - depends on the action I guess!
