Steering Play/Knock

Hi,

I have W203, with an annoying knock when i go over manhole covers in the road etc, it sounded like the drop links had gone so i have just replaced these and guess what as usual the knock is still there, i replaced the anti roll bar about 6 months ago.

There is also a bit of play in the steering, a slight knocking can be heard when the engine is off, when the steering wheel is shaken form side to side, it sounds like it on the steering column ie before the rack (hopefully)

Any ideas???

Mine is exactly the same, I just put up with it. If its an easy fix then I'll probably get it done.

same on w124 had the play adjusted out just thave the knock on the bumps etc.

anyone ?
