I have a 1991 300SL. The left wheel appears to slip sideways or jump when approaching full right lock. It doesn't happen the other way, i.e. right wheel left lock. Car drives and brakes straight. Wear on tyres appears even. However the problem seems to be getting worse rapidly. First noticed it yesterday, definately worse today. i.e. happening further away from full lock.
Does anyone have any ideas please?
Many thanks

Steering problem

This is normally caused by the idler arm and/or the pitman arm. The arm should move left and right smothly, however they do wear with time and start to jump up and down on full lock. You will need to replace it. Its a simple enough job for the capable diy man.

Your Mercedes
BMW 525 Diesel Touring
Or a failed balljoint, if the suspension on these is like later cars? Whatever, it sounds like you shouldn't drive it until it's been sorted

New tyres appear to have solved the problem. Nice new contenentals rather than old slippery pirelli P6000s
