There should be an identity plate on the pump somewhere tell you exactly which model it is.

If you are trying to source a replacement just try searching for that part number, any number of hits, including new ones from a dealer at £400...

I would be more worried about the reason it went bang, before looking for a replacement, new or used...

cheers

hi balge. i have not noticed any problems until the belt came off on 21/12/12 and no PAS. when pump removed it appeared both flange mounts had been cracked for a long time. and the rear fixing had cracked off and was lying on the aircon compressor. have had the car now for some 10 years but have had no problems with stering until now. Grober gave me very useful advice and a site for pumps i now know the pump was also used on 124 saloons and estates from 85 to 93 this info via ZF.

Hi I have known the odd one to crack after 70,000, and when the cars were only 3 years old, very rare though. Rob parker has a 250d coming in on Tuesday for breaking, with a complete newish pump, he is very reasonable with his prices and will post quickly Pnone 07737 360966 tell him Brian gave you the number. Hope this helps

Are you 100% sure the front casing is not broken where the pump mounts? (go have a closer look)
This is actually a fairly common failure on the 602/603 diesels, with the front case often breaking.

Hi Alex. Have not seen any damage to the casting holding pump to the engine. But will have a closer look. The pump front casting has two castings
which are machined to take the long fixing bolts, both these have broken in half. There is also a further fixing at the rear of the pump which is actually the pump body and has a tapped hole, this part of the casting has literally broken in half along its length. It would appear that the rear fixing, and the lower front casting have been broken for a long time due to the dirt etc found
Only the upper front fixing was obviously holding but inspecting the casting only about 3mm was holding. It can be seen by the remains of the surface brightness. However will look a the other engine mount.
Many thanks
Regards ray paget
