Today I swapped my Sport 'wheel for a four spoke (from another W203 Oct'04).

Both cars had their battery disconnected...

After eventually getting the airbag connectors off (they were STIFF!!

) we disconnected the button connectors only to find they were different shapes.

The wires were identical both in colour and position within the connectors, so we swapped connector shells as well.

Wheels back on, airbags connected, button connectors fitted, ignition on.... NO error messages!

Also no action in the button department!

Steering wheel buttons on both cars totally inoperative...

Anyone have any ideas??

oh dear, now reading that as you wrote it i would say that the stright swap shouldnt be a problem, as you say wiring the same colour, only thing comes to mind is SCM (steering controm module) might need to be recoded for diff wheel, dont buy that myself but knowing mercs i would dismiss it, have you tried refitting correct wheel to correct car and trying that??
