I'm not sure about this. Why do you want to remove an airbag?

You might have to wire in the airbag to keep everything normal, even though it isn't in the steering wheel.

If you were to put the airbag under your seat there could some funny effects if you were to crash.

.

dont want to remove the airbag,, i'm removing the original steering wheel,, and putting an aftermarket steering wheel on my car that has no airbag,,

what i'm asking is should i connect the 2 wires that used to go to the airbag ie,, complete the circuit,, ( that is'nt there any more because i've removed the original wheel) or dont connect them,, ie,, no circuit,, to keep the srs light off,,

You must not join the wires together. All you can do is to unplug it and see if the lamp comes on.

As the SRS system is aware when even the warning bulb is out of the circuit, its highly unlikely that it won't notice the absence of an entire airbag. It will almost certainly have a constant resistance that you will need to replicate in order to trick it and get the light off.

This is why I said unplug and see, the snag is how do you work out the loading that the air bg had, you cant put an ohm meter to test as the battery in circuit could set off the bag, if the Can Bus is in this circuit, at least it cant get a message back saying faulty, if it is not there.
Turnipsock's idea is quite good, any more idea's.

Personally I wouldn't go there anyway. The airbag is a valuable safety tool. To me, its rather like fitting new Recaro seats and not being concerned if they don't have anywhere to fit the seatbelt. What price vanity? Too high in this case.

Anyway, try one of these

Malcolm

what's your reasoning behind " you must not join the wires together",,??

if the lamp comes on it's a trip to the dealers and £50.00 or more for them to turn it off,, this is what i'm trying to avoid,,

i was thinking of putting a resistor between the airbag wires,, but i dont know the value,,

my ohm meter tester only has a 1 1/2 volt battery,, wondering if this would set the bag off,, would have thought the car being 12 volt system,, 12 volts would be needed to set the bag off,,

did a bit of surfing found out you just put a 3 ohm .25 watt resistor across the wires and it fools the computer into thinking the bags still there,, so no light on the dash,, :D

,,

You cant short them together as they are the power supply lines that set the bag off.

i did'nt mean join the +ve and -ve together,, i meant join the incoming wires to the out going wires,, as i've now found out,, just put a resistor in the circuit,,

thanks for your input, malcolm,, :D

3ohms across 12V....hmmm....

12V/3ohms=4A

12Vx4A=48W

I'm not sure how the airbag circuit works, but the safe bet would be to measure the current being drawn by the airbag. Also measure the voltage across it and do the sums.

I wouldn't full around with the airbags to much, there are a lot of firemen been injured by them while cutting people out of cars.

looks like theres only 2 wires in 1 plug going to the airbag,, recon the resistor will go across it,,
