Stereo system advice on my 02 C200K coupe

Hello, first off I'm completely new to this forum and indeed owning a Mercedes having just bought one two days ago. Having been searching around the web for the last three weeks it's now clear that this is the place for answers with regards all things Mercedes.

So, my question. My lovely new 02 C200K Sports Coupe has come with a third party Sony stereo in it. It's a good stereo but obviously none of the buttons on the steering wheel control it. I've heard that the original Audio 10 unit was better suited to the Merc sound wise and that a number of people have gone back to that unit. Also, I have noticed that there is a telephone answering button on the steering wheel. Was this all tied into the Audio 10 unit? Can I use all the steering wheel features on any other brand of stereo or is it just the Audio 10 one? Finally, a lot of the ones I have seen 2nd hand are cassette units. Is there a CD unit that will fit my car?

Yes you can have a CD and go back to the Audio 10

The telephone will only work if the option is fitted to the car, to check that enter your full17 figure VIN number her and see.

Autoleads (amongst others) do interface cables for many stereos and cars. If the Sony is relatively recent I would think there is a cable available
