Hi all,
I have only had the car a couple of weeks, it is a '56 E220 CDi and most mornings when the car is cold and I drive off the box sticks in 1st way longer than it should, up to about 4000rpm.
There is then a massive 'snatch' into 2nd that almost launches me off the seat, and then sometimes (but not always) within a split second goes straight to 3rd.
It is obviously worse in 'S' mode from 1st to 2nd but it does do it if I start in 'E' (from 2nd to 3rd I presume).
It does this until the box has warmed/lubricated.
Warm driving is alot better, but the gearchanges both up and down do not feel anything like as smooth as they should be. My last car was a '04 model and that was a vastly superior change to this.
I have googled and I know the box holds the gears higher when cold to lubricate/warm etc but this is way more severe than that.
The car has covered 29k and I know its previous owner and they are 90% motorway miles.
If anyone has any clues, would you also know if this is covered under warranty?
Thanks you.
