Hi - I don't normally use the parking brake, but for some reason I did last evening. I didn't press the pedal very hard, so when I got in to drive off this morning I was able to reverse off the drive & start moving forward before it told me the parking brake was on.

I pulled the release, but it didn't do anything (my last model gave a good "clunk" when it released). I tried a couple of times to no avail, then actually pressed the pedal a bit harder in case it is the spring on the pedal itself that disengages the system when the release is pulled. Took me quite a few pulls before the thing released (although it didn't "clunk" so I was unsure until I drove off if the damn thing was on or off!)

To save me some time, can anyone explain where on an R230 the mechanism needs to be lubricated and / or adjusted?

many thanks
David

Do use oil or silicon, and not WD40 the spring may have broken on the pedal, that was 30 in the last link,, the clicking 40 bit is for sound only

Thanks guys - the "fix" was simple & ran along the lines of "if in doubt, give it some welly" before breaking into a sweat

A few off/on operations pushing the brake pedal down firmly & releasing seems to have persuaded it to behave itself - it probably just thought about taking its bat & ball home as it felt neglected :)
