I don't know if anyone is familiar with using ULS cleaning solvent to remove the 'blob' from doctored paint chips. I read about it on a Detailing website. Sounded identical to Langka but at a fraction of the cost. Yesterday I bought a large can (400ml) and tried it on a very old 'blob' (three actually). Worked perfectly and brought the blobs down to original paint level. It sure surprised me!.

As suggested I sprayed a very small amount onto a cloth (old tee shirt) and using a stiff plastic card wrapped in the cloth rubbed the old blobs gently and they were gone. Final light polish and hey presto! No impact on the original clear coat whatsoever.

The chap who worked this one out (Porsche owner) needs a pat on the back it seems to me. Seems he went into the chemical characteristics of various products and this was the one he found that worked. He specifically wanted a replacement for Langka.

May I ask where you bought it?

Been trying this on wifey's Honda Jazz over the weekend. I'm struggling slightly finding the right point at which to use the solvent - the paint seems to be much slower going off than I expected, it's still very soft even after 24hrs.

It did work well on one shallow chip, so I'm hopefull that I can get it right eventually!

By the way, I got the ULS from an eBay seller. (It would have been a lot cheaper but I ended up buying a couple of things from him!).

Did some more playing around with this on the Jazz during the last week and achieving pretty good results now.

The amazing thing is how long the paint blob stays soft for. The car is generally in the shade and, despite the apparently warm weather of the last few days, the air temp out of the sun is pretty low so perhaps that's the issue. Even after a week the solvent still easily dissolves the paint blob and it's all too easy to rub it away too much.

It's also a bit tricky on the Jazz as they are known for thin paint so, even though it's a 2 coat metallic, there isn't much depth to the chip. I've found less rubbing is better than trying to get is completely flat, then leaving it to harden again and having another go if still too proud.

Anyway, very pleased with this overall -with the sun shining on the bonnet for once, I asked wifey (who has an eye for detail) to point out the chips I'd repaired and she couldn't find any!

I think it could be the outside temperature that is the issue.

On some touch-up paint sticks they advise you to do the work at a temperature of at least 20 degrees celsius.
