ok - my ac blows nice and cold but my centre vents will ONLY blow cold! If i put the temp up the side vents blow nice and hot but the centre vents stay cold??

I took the duovalve out over the weekend to strip and clean but has not made any difference.

Does anyone know why my centre vents only blow cold?

cheers guys

My W124 is like that but it's a feature of the model. Without knowing what car you have I can't comment on whether yours should be different.

Just looked at your profile and it appears you have a W202. Not sure on that one so still can't comment. :)

I'm pretty sure that on all Mercedes the centre vents only blows cold air unless you have an S class where there is a blue and red button in the centre vent that allows you to change it from cold to hot.

Is it that these vents are only fed by ambient outside air rather than that from the a/c system or heater matrix?

On all three of mine they are fed by the climate control, if it is on, and ambient if the climate control is off. It might be different if one has aircon.

On my W124 and two S class the central vents produce cold air as long as the climate temp, i.e. cabin, is set below the external temp. I have climate control in all three cars, rather than aircon.

On my old 280TE it permanently produced cold air from the central vents - fed by the aircon, if it was on, and ambient if the aircon was off. The exception on this W124 was that there was always air flowing through the central vents, assuming the thumb wheel was open.

With my 320TE, R129 and W140 I only get cold air if the temp dial is set below ambient.
