I have got got my 250td 124 back from the garage and the preheater light does not come on when you turn the key,but once the engine is started it comes on for a few seconds and then goes out.

Very strange its as if it is out of sequence or something.
Has anyone else had this and/or know the solution.

Thanks for the reply Richard.

However I cant get my head round that. Surely if the glow pugs were packing up the wouldnt heat, but they wouldnt cause the problem I have listed would they?

The light on the dash doesnt come on when I turn the key,but when the engine starts it comes on and stays on for a while then goes out.

Help!!!!

Hmmm, can't explain the light not coming on when you turn the key, perhaps the control relay.

This is right, and is definitely the first thing to check. You should be able to measure the resistance of each glow plug from the connector on the glow plug relay - no serious dismantling required.
