Driving home from work tonight, only about a three mile drive. Halfway home the car died on me (1990 200te estate). Pulled over and the engine had just stopped, all dash lights on. I have had probs with the fuel pump relay before but an auto electrician sorted it for me, but I was thinking this was the prob. Anyway I switched everything off, turned the key not expecting to hear the fuel pump, but it did purr into life. Turned the key some more and hey presto the car started and got me home. Just dont understand and am thinking is this the start of something major.
Any ideas out there?
Regards
John

Has it cut out since? If it is cutting out after a couple of miles I would suspect the ignition coil, works ok when cold but goes open circuit as it heats up, had this happen to me with 2 different cars in the past, not MBs admittedly. They would both restart and run after a few minutes but would cut out again after a few miles.
