Posted a thread on Engines forum cos I thought problem might be starter motor/timing chain related. It would seem that they are ok in that the starter turns the engine ok and the cams when viewed from the oild filler are turning ok.I am now thinking ignition. Symptoms are that I tried to start it Sunday morning. It almost started then just turned over with no sign of firing. Any thoughts or checks I could do would be greatly appreciated.

Have you an alarm or immobiliser fitted?
Sounds like the immobiliser is staying on, have you red & green LED's on the drivers door and/or rear view mirror?

Thanks/ Problem found.....sort off

Hey thanks for your advice. I have kind of resolved the problem though still have a bit of a canundrum. I had a poke about along the ignition path, checking plugs and connections. Had a wiggle of as many connectors and cables as I could find to do with the ignition. Turned the key and off she went. Great relief of course but now I dont know when it is gonna happen again. I plan to "re wiggle" the connectors etc with the engine running to see if I can find the dodgy connection so I can at least feel as though I have fixed something and therefor drive with some confidence that ir wont just cut out on me. Any thoughts you have on this would be appreciated.

Many thanks for taking the time to reply to my post,
